In a pinch – substitute

logo

Sometimes when I am cooking, I run out of an ingredient or just have a little. This has always been a big budget buster for me because when I run out to get that 1 thing really quick I do not pay attention to prices. And of course I always pay too much or find out later that I had a really good coupon for the purchase. So other than being better prepared and buy more of a ingredient before it runs out, I decided I need to learn about substitutions. I found this great page at the Land O’ Lakes website that lists all the different ingredients and an acceptable substitution. One of the common sense substitutions is for vegetable oil. If you are run out, use an equal amount of melted butter or margarine. Boy do I feel stupid, I have went out and bought a big container of vegetable oil when all I needed is a teaspoon or two!!

And as an added bonus, there are 4 cookbooks free for download!
