Since I have started on my debt journey I have become a little obsessed. You know, how can I save money, how can I make some money, how to stretch my money, what did I do with all my money , how should I spend my money and how did I waste my money? But then I started thinking, I have made my share of bad money decisions (maybe a little more than my share) but did I ever make any good ones? Well guess what? I have and some of them were really good if I do say so myself
I think while holding ourselves accountable for purchases that we make, good and bad, we need to pat ourselves on the back for those good choices too. If you think hard enough I am sure you can think of a purchase you have made that saves money for you and your your family. I think mine would be a projector and screen. About 5 or 6 years ago at tax time, I found a Toshiba projector on clearance for $599 and I got a projector screen which is about 100×100 in size. The screen was $99 with free shipping and handling. We used it mainly for movie night and playing video games. It has become one of the best purchases we have ever made and this is why. Our 32″ just broke so there is no picture just sound. My family loves to watch movies and play video games so this was a problem. About 8 years ago that tv cost us only $369, you can’t get anything for $350!!! So what did we do? We moved the furniture around , hooked up the projector to our satellite and pulled the screen down. And it is a better picture than our tv had!! We had our very own flat screen right under our noses. The projector has been a big part of family movie nights or game nights. We own hundreds of dvds so we have no need to even go out to the theatre. We pop our own popcorn, invite over some relatives and have a great time. Snd it really makes bowling on the Wii a lot more fun. This is definitely a purchase I do not regret. So what was one of your best purchases?

Thanks Marie, everyone loves watching movies, tv, whatever on there. It is just so cool!
what a great idea!
i didnt even know you could hook up satellite to a projector. Its like having a big screen tv only those are thousands of dollars!
i just finished work so i am done thinking hard for today lol so the first thing that comes to mind for me is my new flat iron. My old one was one that my mom got me for xmas i think it was under $100. I got my tax refund and went and spent $200 on a CHI flat iron. I can already see the difference in quality plus it has a 1 yr in store warranty so if anything happens i can just go get a brand new one! of course i am hoping that it lasts longer than one yr but i will have to wait to see about that! *crosses fingers*
I really love our projector, we even hook the computer up to it sometimes. You know I have been thinking about a really good flat iron. I have a ok one now but I do not want to waste my money. My daughters all have different hair types. I need to start researching that. By the way, how are you liking blogging? I remember when you first started? Anything you have learned that you might want to share?
What a great post! We spend so much time looking at all the bad decisions that we made, or at least I do, it’s nice to think of a good one. My most recent one was trading my 2004 Chevy Cavalier that I was upside down in even for a 1992 Toyota Previa van. The chevy was already having problems and the Toyota just keeps on going and going and going. And it has tons of room for hauling stuff, kids, dogs, etc.
Thanks for the compliment. I think it is so important to stay positive even though sometimes it is really hard.
