Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So Kailani of An Island Life thought that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. So Fridays she asks a simple question for us to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. If you would like to participate be sure to stop by An Island Life and leave your link.
My question this week is:
Did you stay on budget with your holiday shopping?
For once we did. We did not use any credit cards for our shopping. We used all cash. I usually have money put away in a Christmas Club account but for whatever reason I did not do it for 2008. I am starting it back up again for this year and made my first deposit for Christmas today.

Yes this year I did, because I shopped the sales all year for gifts.
I had almost every gift by the time the holiday was here.

Good job staying on budget and off the credit! I really should think about a Christmas club. How much do you put in it? I did stay on budget for my holiday shopping. I really have to because my son’s birthday is two days after Christmas. I learned early on how to plan ahead for that.

I only went slightly over because I had forgotten all about stocking stuffers…and I ended up getting my hubby a few things even though we weren’t going to exchange gifts with each other until after the first of the year…
But since we have separate accounts, it was no big deal – and we don’t use credit cards, so we don’t have to worry about paying later…
Good job for you staying on budget and not using credit cards! Especially with you not having your usual Christmas Club set up!

I sure as heck did! I cashed in all my survey points for Target gift cards and wound up with about $150. Then I had won a few great gifts from giveaways and I only spent about $70 out of my own actual pocket!!
