Salt can be used for so much more than just flavoring your food. We can’t truly be frugal without knowing more than 1 use for something as cheap as salt.
To test the freshness of a egg – add 2 teaspoons of salt to 1 cup of water. If the egg is fresh it will sink, it will float if it is no good.

Candles – soak candles in a strong salt solution for 3-4 hours. Let dry, when you use the candles will not drip
Weeds – sprinkle in between sidewalks and bricks to get rid of grass or weeds. Sprinkle with water
Shoes – sprinkle a little salt in canvas shoes to soak up moisture and deodorize
Fake Flowers – pour salt into a container, add a little cold water and arrange flowers. As the salt becomes solid, it will hold the flowers in place
Broken egg – sprinkle spill with salt, wait a few minutes then just wipe up
Laundry – add 1/2 cup to water before adding clothes. This will keep your clothes from fading
Pancake griddle – rub with salt to prevent sticking
Suds - if your washing machines produces too many suds, sprinkle with salt
Coffee pot – put some ice cubes and salt into the coffee pot. Swish the ice cubes and salt around for a minute or two. Let set for 30 minutes to 1/2 hour. Rinse with cold water
Please let me know if I forget something so I can add it to the list.
