Preparing To Meet The Disney Mocha Moms

Getting ready to go on my “first” trip away from home was very overwhelming. I could not believe I was actually going to Walt Disney World. I had to do so much to just ready to leave. I had no idea how quickly the time would pass. One of the first things I did was make a list. I am finding I do everything better with a list. It makes it so much easier to focus. It would be even better if I did not lose it the first time I made it, lol.

Shopping for clothes

I was so happy that my Dad was able to help me get ready. Of course I borrowed his luggage because he travels all the time and his luggage is pretty nice. He helped me the most by going shopping with me. I love wearing my husband’s t-shirts and shorts so I have not bought “girly” clothes in years and had no idea what to get. Luckily my daddy has a great sense of style. It was fun after I got him to stop grabbing clothes that were a size 4! Of course we went to my favorite store, Walmart. We started off in the women’s section until I discovered the Just My Size line. Those clothes are so pretty! There were lots of different colors and designs. I totally stepped out of my comfort zone and bought some clothes with color. I always think in the back of my mind that I should only wear black. Plus to be honest, some of the clothes I have seen for bigger girls were just plain ugly. The one thing I learned is not to wait until the last minute to see if the clothes fit. My plane was leaving Friday and I found out Thursday evening that every pair of capris I bought was a different size and did not fit. Of course when I went back to Walmart, they did not have my size. I had to change a few outfits around. Luckily I took Nannah with me and she helped me out.

Preparing to leave

Anyways, after figuring out what clothes I was going to wear I had to get the house ready. I was thinking the more I got done, the less I would worry about. This was the first time I was leaving all four of my kids. I tried to do a really good cleaning but I missed that goal. Between Memorial Day weekend, laundry, homework, just spending time with the family, blogging, tweeting and about a million other things there just wasn’t enough time for everything. I had to give the kids the “behave” talk. I wanted to make sure they helped each other out and were nice to each other. My husband had to work two twelve hour shifts so it would be Jazz’s first time really being in charge. It was a pretty big deal. My main concern was Nannah. She likes to tell Jazz ” you’re not my mom so I don’t have to listen to you”. I did not want to worry about them too much. Then TJ just broke my heart when he cried the night before. He did not want me to go. I have never been away from him and it was making him really sad. He is my little protector. I am glad I was able to cheer him up. I assured him I would only be gone for the weekend and it would go by really quick. The girls were going to miss me but really wanted to go see Mickey. I wish they could go too but this was something I needed to do. Alone.

The Airport

Then there was the whole airplane thing. I wanted to make sure I packed correctly. It can be confusing. I did not want to be buy bodywash, lotion and stuff and then not be allowed to take it on the plane. I have really fallen in love with Burt Bee’s so I packed their Head to Toe starter kit.

I figured I would be okay because it was in a clear bag and the bottles were the right sizes. I had to look into how much luggage I could/should take. I decided to carry one bag on and check one bag. I did have to pay $15 to check my bag. I’m glad I checked beforehand. I was not planning on carrying too much money. Did not want to get tempted! That would have really thrown me off if I got to the airport and could not check my bag. I was going to be flying with Midwest Express and I called their customer service line quite a few times. They were really nice and never made me felt like my questions were stupid or anything. I found out I would be able to check my bag at the curb. I went to the website for the airport and printed up a map too. I have a tendency to get lost. Very easily. So I like to be prepared. I met a really nice lady at the airport who walked me through security and helped me find where I would need to get on the plane. By the time I got to the gate, I had waited only about 15 minutes before it was time to board. I could not believe I was on my way!

The Plane Ride

The plane was really nice and big. My row only had two seats and I had a comfy window seat. Yayyy!! The woman I sat next too turned out to be someone I met a few minutes earlier before we boarded. She let me read her People magazine. Before the flight took off there were some technical difficulties. Something with the power. It did not bother me though. I was just so excited to be on an actual plane. I was like WOW, look at me. When we finally started to take off , it was kind of funny. The plane backed up and started down the runway. I was thinking it was going pretty slow. Then it sped up and started to go really fast. Next thing I knew we took off. It felt kind of like a roller coaster but better!! It was amazing to see Milwaukee getting smaller and smaller. When we got above the clouds the view was breathtaking. It was so just beautiful and calming. I loved it. Would you believe I fell asleep? That is how relaxed I was. I did not even get a chance to pull out my PSP or Ipod. The flight went so fast to me. How exciting, I was getting ready to meet the Disney Mocha Moms!
