July is one of my favorite times of year. Let’s see, there is the 4th of July with all the fireworks, my husband’s birthday, Kayla’s birthday, my niece’s birthday and fair time!!! Every July we get all excited about the Waukesha County Fair. The first day is always dollar day. Only a dollar for admission, parking and rides! It is really affordable for our family of six. We even get a break on gas since it is not too far from home. I have been having some pretty bad migraines but I sucked it up for the kids.
The first place we hit was where the animals were at. We saw some pigs, chickens, rabbits, goats and cows. The goats were dressed in these cute clothes to keep them clean but they looked adorable.

Kayla was pretty happy she got to pet one and the smell was not that bad. Looking at the animals did not last for long though. All that was on the kids’ minds were getting on some rides. I did not get as many pictures as I would have liked because the kids ending up wanting to split up. Jazz had her mind set on going on the scary rides and Nannah not so much. TJ even surprised me. He was not scared of anything either. One of the favorites was this ride called the tornado. Four people can sit at one time and control the speed of making the ride spin around. It was not too high though so Nannah was very happy. They went on it a few times.

They rode a little bit of everything. The Tilt a Whirl, Teacups and Bumper Cars. The kids had so much fun. And the lines were not too bad. Even with my migraine I decided to get on a ride with the kids. I am not sure if I picked the right one. It is called the Ring of Fire. That should have been a hint right there.

It was kind of a tight fit getting into the compartment. It was really small and a pretty uncomfortable but I was doing it for the kids. Kayla decided she wanted to sit with me. I was ok with that. TJ and Jazz sat behind us. Before the ride starts Tj says very loud and clear “Momma, make sure you hang onto your wig so it doesn’t come off”.Yes he did say that. I could not believe it and Jazz could not stop laughing. So the ride starts up and goes really fast. And Kayla freaks out. She really started screaming when the ride got to the top and just stopped. She was terrified she would slip out so of course I start to freak out too. I start to wonder how did I get in the position of being squished into a tight place holding my 6 year old with one hand. I am whispering to her to just keep her eyes closed while trying to ignore that I just realized how high we actually are. Oh, and I was praying that my wig doesn’t really slip off. My husband and daughter were on the ground with the biggest smiles on their faces. I swear this ride felt like the longest ride ever!! Luckily I was able to calm her down once we got off the ride. She had no idea that the ride was going to be so scary. Me either! But she went right back to riding every other ride.
I am glad they were able to have such a good time. And we did not go broke!! The only down part was my migraine started hurting so bad I felt like I was going to pass out. I went and sat in the van and literally cried for almost 2 hours. I did not want to spoil the kids’ day at the fair. It made realize that Tylenol is not really working for me and I am making an appointment to see my doctor. All of these constant headaches can not be good for me.
