15 steps to take while getting house ready for winter

It is getting cold so we need to start getting the house ready for winter. Thought I would share a few of the things we do to get ready. Plus I want to remind my husband, lol. This is kind of my virtual honey do list.

1. Take screen off the door and put up the storm window
2. Put away the water hose, turn off the water in the house
3. Put plastic on windows
4. Put away patio set, grill and outdoor tools
5. Make sure the snow blower is in working condition
6. Check all outlet for form inserts ( keep the breezes out)
7. Make sure filter on furnace is clean
8. Check all the gutters
9. Look for cracks everywhere. The windows frames, outlets, pipes and caulk as needed!
10. Rake leaves and winterize lawn
11. Check to make sure we have shovels
12. Put ice scrapers in all vehicles
13. Put out mats by all the doors to hold wet shoes and boots
14. Buy bags of ice-melt
15. Change batteries in all smoke detectors
