I was surfing the internet and came across this story on
News of the World. It was about 11 year old Kordeza gave birth to her daughter on her wedding day. Kordeza’s husband, Jeliazko, is 19 years old. They met on the playground of her Roma gypsy school in Sliven, Bulgaria. Jeliazko stopped some kids from bullying her. Within a week of them meeting the two had sex. From what I read Kordeza’s family was very happy that she was pregnant. It is normal for young girls to be pregnant at the age of 13 in the city where they live.
Reading this story so many things bothered me. Kordeza said: ”I used to play with my toys but now she is my new toy. She is so beautiful, I love her. Violeta is the child and I must grow up. I am not going back to school – I am a mother now.” She admitted: “I haven’t had sex education classes and I didn’t know how to get pregnant. I’d never had a boyfriend and I’d never heard of condoms. I didn’t know I was pregnant until my grandmother saw I had put on weight. I just thought I’d eaten too many burgers.” Children are definitely blessings but not to parents who are so young. Babies are not toys. My daughter is 11 and it hurts my heart to think of her having sex and giving birth to a child. I have already the the sex talk with her. I don’t even want her thinking about boyfriends right now. This story just really got me thinking. You can read more of the story here.

Wow, that totally blows by mind! I don’t care where you live, no child is ready to have a child at that age. It amazes me that they celebrate it and have a wedding. Unreal……

I think we have forgotten that Americans used to also have children at young ages. Maybe not 11 but 12. Yes, we moved away from that and have created a society where young women have more opportunities than just getting married and having children. But this couple is from the ghetto in Bulgaria and culture s very different there.
Their love is my love and their success is my success. I send wishes for abundance of love, wealth, health and prosperity in all they touch.
