jazzbdayWell my baby has turned 16. This is where all the crying starts, lol. I feel like I am saying this a lot lately but time is going by way too fast. I mean it seems like it was literally yesterday I was bring her home from the hospital. My little princess. It may sound unrealistic but at the point and time, I really could not even fathom that she would grow up. Maybe I was just praying I would not break her, lol.

The moment I saw her I knew. I knew I wanted better for her. I never wanted her to feel unwanted, not special, not important. She would never be a disappointment. I would encourage her to reach for her dreams and never give up. My first daughter will always know how beautiful and smart she is.

Throughout these 16 years she has grown into such a beautiful person. Inside and out. She is kind, creative, hard working, intelligent, caring and mine.

Happy Birthday Jazz I Love You more than you will ever know!

I decided to go with a small little get together with just the immediate family. The other kids were out of school so we spent all day decorating and cooking. This proved to be quite a challenge because my oven is broke and we used a small countertop oven. Hey you gotta learn how to improvise! It worked out great because made mini cheesecakes, cupcakes and cakes. We took a quick trip to Walmart and bought some cookies, salsa and chips, plus her favorite candy. Laffy Taffy :) While there we found the coolest Tinkerbell decorations. Jazz is one of the biggest Tinkerbell fans ever so I just had to grab it. I found a huge balloon and wall coverings for her. (The best part is she can re use the wall coverings to decorate her room!)

Came out pretty yummy considering: we filled the muffin pans, realized they would not fit in counter top oven and how to squeeze into a much smaller baking pan, lolCupcakes

It was a great day. It was not huge and fancy like the Sweet 16 parties you see on t.v. I am a stay at home mom with four kids and that is no where near my budget. But I can tell you this, it was full of love and laughs!

I want to give a big hug and thanks to my helpers. They helped blow up balloons, set up, decorate, cook, clean up and everything in between :)

kidchoiceawardsIt was pretty hard to not know about the  Kid Choice Awards 2010 in my house. Kayla was eagerly waiting to catch this awards show.  Yesterday she had me sitting there laughing with her watching iCarly. Before you knew it TJ and Nannah joined us. At one point Kayla even asked me could I take her there. If only I could :) I would take them all!

I am a big fan of Kevin James and loved his dance routine. He can move and always has me laughing, lol. Plus you gotta love the sweatsuits :)  I don’t know about all that slime, but of course my kids would love to get slimed!!

Jaden Smith is really growing up. When they showed the silhouette I just knew it was Jaden behind there. My girls think he is beyond cute. We want to check out Karate Kid and see how he did in this role. I am curious to see what kind of actor he is becoming.

Rihanna had some robots that came out with her during her performance. Nannah and TJ thought it was kind of cool and scary at the same time.

I think I was annoying the kids a little. I kept calling everyone by their show names : Spencer, Tru, Freddie, Sam. And I kept saying I remember when she was little or he is really growing up. Especially Zach and Cody (not their real names).

My favorite part is when Katy Perry got slimed. She was caught so off guard we could not stop laughing. And yes we hit rewind a few times :)

Well I tried out Netflix on Wii yesterday and I have to say that I really like it so far. It took less than a minute to set up. Pretty much the same process as the Roku where you activate it on their website. The set up is different from the Roku because you get to see so much more than just what is added to your instant queue. You can search through what has been added recently which is a feature that the Roku is missing. I love that I am able to look through the different categories for a certain genre:

  • Goofy comedies
  • Scary Movies
  • Visually striking
  • Independent
  • Television
  • Comedy
  • Children and family
  • Thrillers
  • Suspenseful Conspiracy
  • Documentary
  • Horror
  • Recently watched

The Wii remote even feels pretty comfortable in my hand and I had no problem using it to scan through all the instant movie choices. This is the perfect set up for our living room. The only problem is you have to put the Netflix Wii disc in to use the instant streaming. Plus they sent it in an red envelope not a hard case. I am hoping we don’t lose it. It would have been much better to just have some type of software that installed directly to the Wii hard drive.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel comes out on Tuesday. I am hoping it can be for our movie night next week. I think that will be a great movie to start off Spring Break! We loved the first one and have been waiting to see the sequel.

If you know me, then you know I love bacon.I tend to talk about from time to time :) My friend Sheena sent me this link that makes a big piece of bacon show up on my blog. I even had the pleasure of reviewing some bacon lip balm. When I visited General Mills back in December I ate some of the best applewood bacon at this restaurant called Manny’s. I still talk about that evening :) If you mention the word bacon it catches my attention! Well, I just opened my issue of  Taste of Home magazine and they are talking about, wait for it, BACON!  They show some

  • bacon looking sneakers
  • A book called the Guide to Better Bacon (gotta get this)
  • bacon flavored envelopes ( I have to try these!)

I think the best part  is the bacon recipes that were included in this issue. I am going to try them all. There is even a recipe for chocolate covered bacon and they sell them at the Wisconsin State Fair. So can you guess where I am going this summer?
