That is what I told my doctor today. For the last two weeks I have not been feeling ok mentally. I take medication for depression and my anxiety. I am not ashamed or embarrassed about it or anything. Medication is what works for me. The past few weeks have been really horrible. I have been feeling really sad, crying a lot and moody. I have not been sleeping well at all and having lots of trouble focusing . When I look at the big picture I am happy at how far I have come when it comes to my own mental health. I have learned to recognize when I am getting really stressed. I am not an expert but I see it. Except this time what I was seeing was very different. I could not calm down. At all. My moods were all over the place and I felt like I was lost.
I am so glad that I have a doctor that listens to me. I mean really listens. I told him how I was feeling and he agreed that something was not right. He thinks the medication I was on has run its course. It is just not working for me anymore. So today I started a new prescription. Prozac. I am praying it works. The transition period from one medication to another is always the worst part for me. My emotions and thoughts are all over the place. I am thankful that I have not had to do it a lot. I was on Zoloft before and it worked pretty well for quite a few years. There had do be some adjustments made as far as dosage but that was no surprise.
I do feel better after seeing my doctor though. He was proud of me as well.

Tricia,
Sounds like you rhaving some of the same days that I’m having lately. It’ snot fun at all. Good luck with the new medication, but keep watch of behavior changes with it. It does take a good period of time for the medicine to get into your system and work, so give it time. Thank you for sharing about your issues with life. Not too many people like to talk about it. You have such a beautiful family. I bet you couldn’t be prouder. I’m new to bloggin also, and just getting the hang of it, so follow me if you like. I hope your days ahead are brighter. Maybe we can be an ear for one another if you’d like.
The Best,
Kelly

It is a great sign that you could recognize that something was off and get to the doctor to talk about it! I had a similar situation a few years ago. Thank goodness my doctor was such a great listener as well. Good luck woth the new meds

Thank you Kristen. It has been a few years since I have had to switch medication. I honestly believe the Zoloft was just not working anymore.

Here’s hoping this is the right medicine for you! I think the most important thing is that you trust your doctor. That’s often the biggest hurdle to getting healthy.

Thanks Shasta. It really does. I have had doctors who were just willing to prescribe whatever to get me out of their office, so this is so much better.

I commend you on knowing there was a problem and things were not right and getting help. I take meds myself for the same things. I don’t think there is anything wrong with it. I wish more people would agree.

Thank you so much Bobbie. I have had so many conversations with people who made me feel bad because I needed to take medication. No more. It works for me and that is all that matters

Bravo for noticing when you have a problem. I am similar, I try to ignore it and then I realize I have a problem. ((HUGE HUGS)))

That’s awesome that you have such a great doctor who listens to you. I only ever had Zoloft work for me, and it only worked for about a year, and then no more. I hope this one works for you.

I used to be a counselor and I think it is so great you are able to ID when you need help and contacted your doctor. Hope things work out for you

Have you ever tried Lexapro? It did WONDERS for a girlfriend of mine and she was on it for years without it “running its course” and having to go through a change. If you havent, I would ask your doc about that one.
