Preparing for Labor Day

logo

School is starting through out the country. This means summer will be ending soon. No more staying up late and being carefree.  Time to get ready to hit the books. This also means Labor Day is coming up. Families are preparing to relax with activities, picnics, parades and maybe some fireworks. Law enforcement is also getting ready for the Labor Day weekend. The United States Department of Transportation recently began their annual Over the Limit, Under Arrest campaign. Law enforcement agencies all over the country are adding extra measures to keep drunk drivers off of the road.

  • In San Diego DUI drivers will get caught. There are 17 Checkpoints, 7 local roving DUI saturation patrols, and a warrant/probation sweep targeting repeat offenders throughout the county.
  •  In Austin, Texas if a minor even has a trace of alcohol or beer in their system, they will be charged with a DUI.
  • In South Carolina there is the Sober or Slammer Labor Day Enforcement Blitz. Highway Patrol has created a special 30-member DUI team. Citizens can also dial *47 on thier cell phones when they see dangerous behavior on the roads.
  • Arkansas is having a Booze and Belts Labor Day crackdown on drunk drivers and those who don’t buckle up. 126 agencies are conducting saturation patrols and/or sobriety tests all over the state. They will be putting to use the BATMobile ( Breath Alcohol Testing Mobile Unit). It is a 42-foot vehicle that will allow officers to test  “on-the-spot” drivers suspecting of being  drunk and impaired.

The message is simple. Do not drink and drive.

Dito!!!! I think the don’t drink and drivr thing is not taken seriously. when people go out there is maybe a 2 drink min. To me that’s drinking and driving no matter the min amount.

It seems like everything is marketing now-a-days…’Sober or Slammer’? ‘Booze and Belts’? Mildly amusing, I suppose.
Drinking and driving is no laughing matter, though.
