Are you a parent of a tween? Since the age range is around 10-12 years old, I have one, TJ. I kind of consider Kayla to be one too even though she is only 9. She is experiencing some of those changes that happen when you are a tween. Even though I have two older daughters, 13 and 17, each of them is different so I try to learn as much as I can when it comes to this time in their lives.
Hygiene has become a huge topic in our house, especially with TJ. I have lots of questions and always want to know how other parents are tackling this subject. Well I am happy to say that I will be co-hosting a discussion on this very subject Wednesday, September 28th. I am exciting that we will be able to ask Rosalind Wiseman, author and parenting expert, question and get tips on how to deal with tweens and their hygiene.
What: A class where we’ll exchange ideas, suggestions and stories about tweens and personal hygiene. It’s the second of four Tween Academy classes on TheMotherhood, brought to you by Unilever.
About the class: Studies show that kids are entering puberty at an earlier age. The conversation will focus on the physical changes and challenges tweens go through and how parents can help them adjust and take good care of themselves.
When: Wednesday, September 28, at noon ET
Where: On TheMotherhood, here - http://www.themotherhood.com/talk/show/id/62265
Who: Renowned parenting expert Rosalind Wiseman, author of the New York Times bestseller Queen Bees and Wannabes (which the movie Mean Girls was based on), will lead the conversation with the help of six fabulous blogger co-hosts:
Deb, Mom of 3 Girls http://www.momof3girls.net/
Carolyn, This Talk Ain’t Cheap http://thistalkaintcheap.blogspot.com/
Mary, Everyday Baby Steps http://www.everydaybabysteps.com/
Stacie, Divine Miss Mommy http://www.thedivinemissmommy.com
Deborah, Vodkamom http://www.vodkamom.com
Latricia, 1 Stop Mom http://1stopmom.com/
Giveaway! During the Talk, we will randomly give one participant a Vera Bradley tote bag filled with these items: momAgenda Desktop Planner; momAgenda Chores Pad; momAgenda Love Post-It Notes; one sample each of Dove, Degree Girl, and Degree Men deodorant; Rosalind Wiseman’s Queen Bees and Wannabes; Rosalind Wiseman’s Boys, Girls & Other Hazardous Materials.
Do you have any questions you would like answered during this talk? I am curious to know what ages your child or children started to *need* to wear deodorant? My kids were around 7 and 8 years old.
The Tween Academy is sponsored by Unilever and Don’t Fret the Sweat. Every week one Tween Academy class participant will win a Vera Bradley tote bag filled with a momAgenda desktop planner, a momAgenda chores pad and Post-It notes, a sample of Dove, Degree Girl and Degree Men deodorants, and Rosalind Wiseman’s books Queen Bees and Wannabes and Boys, Girls & Other Hazardous Materials, all provided by Unilever.

My 8 year daughter and I are always going around about hygiene. She needs to wear deodorant. When she doesn’t, I can tell. I have to remind her everyday to put it on.

Tween academy, awesome. Yup that is an age that requires a lot of different training avenues as a parent.

Great topic! I’m fortunately not in the tween area right now, lol…one just reached adulthood and three more haven’t got to the teen years yet.
