Well, we made it through the first day of school. TJ, Kayla and her best friend Christi were the first to leave. Of course not without a few pictures. All of them are going to a new school, but an old principal. She is a great principal that has watched my kids grow up. All three were a little nervous and excited. Everything went pretty good. My friend Shamika (Christie’s Mom) and I are sharing car pooling duties, so she took them the first day.

Nannah was out the door next. She is in 7th grade this year. Her school moved to a new building because it is going up to the 12th grade. It is kind of funny because the new building is where I graduated from high school! Nannah was really happy to go back to school to see all of her friends. The bus did not come. It happens every year so I was not too surprised. She came home happy and excited. There are plans to sign up for all types of activities.

What a nice start to the school year. At least I got the first day right this time!
School is starting through out the country. This means summer will be ending soon. No more staying up late and being carefree. Time to get ready to hit the books. This also means Labor Day is coming up. Families are preparing to relax with activities, picnics, parades and maybe some fireworks. Law enforcement is also getting ready for the Labor Day weekend. The United States Department of Transportation recently began their annual Over the Limit, Under Arrest campaign. Law enforcement agencies all over the country are adding extra measures to keep drunk drivers off of the road.
- In San Diego DUI drivers will get caught. There are 17 Checkpoints, 7 local roving DUI saturation patrols, and a warrant/probation sweep targeting repeat offenders throughout the county.
- In Austin, Texas if a minor even has a trace of alcohol or beer in their system, they will be charged with a DUI.
- In South Carolina there is the Sober or Slammer Labor Day Enforcement Blitz. Highway Patrol has created a special 30-member DUI team. Citizens can also dial *47 on thier cell phones when they see dangerous behavior on the roads.
- Arkansas is having a Booze and Belts Labor Day crackdown on drunk drivers and those who don’t buckle up. 126 agencies are conducting saturation patrols and/or sobriety tests all over the state. They will be putting to use the BATMobile ( Breath Alcohol Testing Mobile Unit). It is a 42-foot vehicle that will allow officers to test “on-the-spot” drivers suspecting of being drunk and impaired.
The message is simple. Do not drink and drive.
I like reading comments and leaving my own as a way of interacting. It can be for a number of reasons:
- I like a picture you took
- To say Congratulations
- To ask a question
- Your post was useful to me and I want to say thanks
- You wrote something that made me think
- Just to say hi
- You asked for opinions on something
- I want to add the conversation
I would not write a comment to bully someone or make them feel bad. Especially another mom. I do not go out of my way to be mean or rude. It seems like a lot effort to put forth. I would much rather be supportive.
Just my thoughts
Today is the first day of school for Jazz. She is in the 11th grade.Wow. I am trying not to tear up but she is really growing up. Jazz started her first job this summer and even did her own school shopping. I am pretty sure in a few months she will have her driver’s license. I am so lucky she let me take the first day of school pictures. I wonder will I be able to sneak and take some pictures when she starts college. I definitely am going to try!
