Black Friday Sales

black friday dealsIf you are like me, this year I am going shopping on Black Friday. I have not went in a few years but quite a few things have caught my eye. My husband and I have already made up our strategy plan. If you plan to just go out to the stores and wing it, you will regret it. You have to have a plan! It will save you time and money. The first thing you need to do is get a newspaper. Where I live we grab one at Dollar Tree for a dollar! If you don’t want to buy a newspaper you can check online at the website of your favorite store or visit This sites has newspapers scan of all the ads from stores that are participating in Black Friday. Some of the stores include Macy’s,, K-mart, JcPenney, Target, Old Navy, and Walmart.

Next know exactly what your budget is and who you want to buy gifts for. There are a lot of great deals for Black Friday and you do not want to get completely overwhelmed and overspend. This happens so easily sometimes you don’t even notice it.  I have planned to knock out at least 98% of shopping tomorrow.

Compare ads. You have to keep in mind that just because it is a sale, that does not mean it is the lowest price. Walmart has price matching. This could save a ridiculous amount of time. It you can get a deal and not have to run from store to store, then why not do? It is cold here in Wisconsin and I do not want to be driving all around to different stores. We have a 24 hour Walmart so I would not even have to wait outside in lines. Just remember to bring your ads with you! You can not just say this Blu-ray player is cheaper at another store. You have to show them the actual ad.

If possible get a shopping buddy.  It is much easier for two or three people to conquer a list and get what you want then one. This is a great way to help each other out. My husband are planning to hit separate stores. We won’t have to rush and hopefully will finish quickly. I have asked my 16 year old to help us out this year too. She can help grab gifts for her sisters and brother.

Make sure you know what time the stores will open. There used to be a time where every store opened at the same time for Black Friday. Not any more. A few store are opening much earlier.

  • Target 4am
  • Kmart 5am (open today too)
  • Radio Shack 5:30am
  • AJ Wright 6am
  • Burlington Coat Factory 5am
  • Toys R Us starts tonight at 10pm
  • Habor Freight 6am for members 7am for everyone else
  • Micheals 5am (open today too)
  • Macy’s 4am
  • JoAnn Fabrics 6am
  • GameStop 5am
  • Best Buy 5am

Pay attention to the details for doorbusters! Doorbusters are only good for a few hours. These items usually have a limit. Some stores only have a few in stock and there are no rain checks! I am talking about 2 or 3 of a item.. Especially Best Buy. For their big doorbusters they have a ticket system. Only those customers issued a ticket can get a doorbuster. They are passing out tickets two hours before opening. So if you are not one of the first 10 to 20 people in line, I would just move on to the next store.  The color Nook will be $99 but there are only a minimum of 10 per store. With some of the Blu-ray movies on sale for $7.99 there are only 5 of each title.

Nicole I decided not to go and my husband was telling me how bad it was. Walmart passed out tickets and the lines were up and down 3 to 4 aisles. Toys R Us was so packed, they could only let a few people in at a time. I have never heard of a store being full to capacity!
