Everyone has their favorite summer time activities but with the rising cost of gas you have to get a little creative with ideas of what to do to keep busy. This can can be a little challenging because you want to have fun but you need to keep it affordable.
Do you like to attend the county fair? Most fairs have promotions during those first few days that help make them inexpensive enough you can even get some fair food without breaking the bank. At the Waukesha County Fair where we live, they have dollar days every year. Admission, parking and all rides are one dollar!
Maybe your favorite pastime is going to the drive in theater. Get the kids in their jammies, pack some snacks and you have have an affordable family activity. They are not all closed down and there just might be one near you.
If you are looking for things to do with the kids at home, Kid Buckaroo is a blog you should visit. It is full of activities you can do with your children and there are even pictures for each of the steps. This site is perfect for me because sometimes I learn better with pictures.A place my family loves to visit no matter what time of year is the library. Every week there is usually something kid related going on. Last year we went to a Harry Potter Party at the public library. There were free snacks, tattoos and we even got to see a magic show.
How about a day at the park? Pack a picnic and play on the slide or swings. You can even have a good game of tag or kickball.
