Time For The Ultimate Blog Party 2014!!!

Yes, it is that time of year again, Party Time!!!
Ultimate Blog Party 2014

I have been a part of the Ultimate Blog Party for the last few years. I definitely enjoy it or I would not come back every year.  My first party was back in 2008, man that was a while ago. I had only been blogging for a few months.

I won my first blog prize ever. I remember a bought a disc full of Archie Comics!

first ubp

This is when I first was introduced to the writers Sheena and Greg and their world. The next year I was able to meet Sheena for the first time at DIsney World. She is still one of the sweetest and smartest women I know. She now blogs at Sophistishe.

After the first year I was hooked. The Ultimate Blog Party is a great way to discover new blogs, make new friends and introduce others to your own blog.

Now a little about me.

I am a married mom of 4. Three girls 20, 16 and 11 and one boy, 14. I have a busy house full of teens/tweens who think they are young adults. My oldest moved into her own apartment last year. That has brought on a whole new level of worrying that I was not ready for but she is doing great. I live in Wisconsin, where I born but I want to travel more. Take some adventures and make some memories.

My son TJ starts high school next year

Nannah is finally old enough to start driving

Kayla loves crafting and starts middle school next year

Jazz is super busy working and going to school

I can’t forget that I am GodMommy to the cutest little boy ever, Cam!

Let’s see, what else can I share. My favorite number is 7. I read a lot. I try to aim for at least 1 book a day. The library is my favorite place to be.  I really like taking pictures. This is one of my favorites from last year:

I like this one too.

While my husband is fishing, I am taking pictures!

I am an introvert, but once I warm up to you I love to talk and laugh. I can’t live without my Roku and Netflix. I use it daily.

I make a mean Sweet Potato Pie! I learned the recipe from my grandma but only can make them in batches of three!
Now if you are a new reader, I have to tell you about my love for bacon.  I loved it before it was popular and anything with the word bacon in it attracts my attention!

I have a Bacon Pinterest Board, take pictures of bacon on Instagram. I had the chance to try chocolate bacon stix a few weeks ago from Toppers Pizza. There are delicious!

Feel free to browse 1StopMom. I have a lot of interesting things to say. I also host some pretty cool giveaways.

Minted Has Wall Art For Everyone!

For as long as I can remember, I have been a little scared of getting actual wall art to decorate my home. Putting up photo collages of my family throughout the house is what always done.  I like to be surrounded by things that make me happy. Recently I have felt this urge to step out of my shell more and try different things. Especially when it comes to decorating.

I visited the Minted website to see what they had to offer because I always just thought they only carried stationary. There was a variety of wall art to look through.

I am really liking this print. It is one of the pieces that caught my eye while I was browsing the site.

This is a limited edition print by Chris Trutt. I don’t know much about art, but I know I like this and it makes me smile.

Minted makes choosing wall art very easy. The way the site is set up, once you decide on a piece of art you can see how it looks in different colors and frames.  I was looking at this Truly Awesome Facts print and thought this is really cute for a kid’s room.

Personalization is a snap because you can edit the words with different fonts and colors. You can also move different elements around until it looks just right to you.

Another part of picking out wall art that makes me anxious is what size to pick. I would hate to choose something too small or large. Minted shows you what the art looks like in different sizes. A real person is holding it so you can see what you would get. No more guessing!

My daughters were looking through the Minted site with me and saw some pieces that they liked as well. Getting art done by independent artists seems like the direction I would like to go in.

Donating To Goodwill Help Create Jobs #donatestuffcreatejobs

[box] Goodwill Industries International is a network of 165 community-based agencies in the United States and Canada with affiliates in 13 other countries. Their agencies are innovative and sustainable social enterprises that fund job training programs, employment placement services and other community-based programs by selling donated clothing and household items in more than 2,700 stores and online at®.[/box]

Did you know that donating one bag of clothing and one bag of books can equal up to 2.3 hours of on-the-job training for someone in your community? Add to that a used lamp, a dusty computer and perhaps a box of DVDs and CDs, and that number nearly doubles to 5.2 hours. I knew that making donations help but I had no idea just how much. Goodwill has a Donation Impact Calculator on their website you can use. It is on the lower left hand side of the screen.

A simple item donated to Goodwill® can help provide job training programs, employment placement services and other community-based programs for people who have disabilities, lack education or job experience, or face other challenges to finding employment. In fact, Goodwill is the leading nonprofit provider of job training programs and career services in the United States and Canada.

I’m Excited To Be A Verizon Moms Voice Ambassador!

“Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Moms Voices program and have been provided with a wireless device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.”

I am extremely happy that I am able to be a part of the Verizon Moms Voices program. I will be receiving a Verizon device and a private tutorial from a device expert. This means I will know the in and outs and get the most out of the device.

I use my current cell phone for a GPS (I get lost a lot!!), to take pictures and videos, to check my email and social media and keep track of the busy schedule my family has. I hope the device we get help me to do all these things and more.

I keep saying “the device” because Verizon has not told us what we be receiving. It is going to be a big surprise. My guess is we might be getting the Droid Maxx. Its’ features include wireless charging, the ability to take better pictures in low light and a battery that lasts longer. The cell phone I have now has a battery that dies pretty quickly so the Droid Maxx will be very nice!

Make sure you follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I will be sharing video, pictures and what I learn over the next 6 months.
