Nine Songs From Back In The Day That I Can Still Remember The Lyrics To

I like to listen to music when I am cleaning and working. My kids complain because I tend to listen to songs from back in the day. It does not seem that long ago to me.  I thought it would be fun to make a list.
1. Goodbye Love by Guy

I just about love  any song by Guy. Remember “I Like”?

2. It Takes to by Rob Base and EZ Rock

I can’t help singing these lyrics when the song comes on the radio:

I wanna rock right now
I’m Rob Base and I came to get down
I’m not internationally known
But I’m known to rock the microphone
Because I get stupid, I mean outrageous
Stay away from me if you’re contagious
‘Cause I’m the winner, no, I’m not the loser
To be an M.C. is what I choose ‘a
Ladies love me, girls adore me
I mean even the ones who never saw me
Like the way that I rhyme at a show
The reason why, man, I don’t know
So let’s go, ’cause

3. All Cried Out by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam

I remember recording this song off the radio onto a cassette tape. My aunt and I replayed the song and wrote the lyrics out in a notebook.

4. Supersonic by JJ Fad

I will never forget what super stands for!

5. Summertime by Will Smith

Love this song! It does not feel like summer to me until I hear this song.

6. I Need Love by LL Cool J

I can’t have a list without this song. It brings back memories!

7. No Scrubs by TLC

Now there may or may be a video of me singing this at Karaoke Night in Missouri. I also may have made my own music video of this song when I got my first video camera, lol.

8. Come and Talk To Me by Jodeci

9. Real Love by Mary J Blige

She will always be one of my favorite singers. I love this song.

Are there any songs that you will always remember the words to?

I Found A Bacon Claw Machine!

If you know me, it goes without saying, I love bacon. I always have. My earliest memories go back to my grandmother cooking bacon when I was little. Nice and crispy is the way she cooked it and the only way I will eat it.

I have even talked about it a few times. Here it is mentioned in my post “Are You Kidding Me, A BaconFest?“.

So the family and I are visiting the Kalahari Indoor Theme Park in Wisconsin Dells. This is our first time visiting the Kalahari and I am pretty excited because I know the kids will have lots of fun. A few minutes after we come through the door, the kids are running towards me yelling “Mom, bacon!”. I am like what, where?

And then I see a beautiful thing.

After seeing this, I was all smiles. Surely any place that has a bacon claw machine can not be disappointing 🙂

Time To Party: Ultimate Blog Party 2013 #UBP13

Ultimate Blog Party 2013

It’s party time!!! The Ultimate Blog Party is one of my favorite online events. Every year I get all excited about all the new blogs friends I will be making.

Welcome to 1StopMom. I am Latricia, but you can call me Tricia. I have been attending the annual Ultimate Blog Parties since 2008 and each year just gets better and better.

I am married (going on 17 years) to my very best friend. We have four kids ages 19-10. I am all about reading (on my iPad), movies (love my Roku), learning new things, Pinterest, laughing and travelling.

1StopMom is my place to discuss the topics that interest me and share my thoughts and opinions. I like to throw some giveaways and reviews in the mix too. Make sure you take a look around. Here are a few posts to check out:

I started blogging as a way to communicate with others who share my interests and it has grown into so much more. I have made a lot of great friends while learning a lot about myself. Blogging is something I don’t ever plan on stopping.

I am offering a giveaway of a $50 gift card to Discovery Clothing at the party this year so check it out when you are entering to win prizes!

I meet lots of great people at these parties and can’t wait to make some new ones this year. Be sure to leave a comment with a link to your site/blog below so I can keep track and visit you all 🙂

News-O-Matic- A Newspaper iPad App for Kids

My daughter Kayla watches the news every morning while getting ready for school. I asked her why and she told me she likes to know what is going on. While I admire her thirst for knowledge, the morning news can be a little too much at times.

I personally like to read my news online because there is a little more control. I am happy to say that there is now an app that Kayla can to use to stay up to date on what’s going on, News-O-Matic.

news o matic

[box] “News-O-Matic is an educational news app for children 7 to 10 years old. The groundbreaking app covers current events, including sports, science and much more in an innovative and kid-friendly way. News-O-Matic transforms the news experience for young readers in a safe and interactive environment, encouraging children to become well-informed global citizens. News-O-Matic, contextualizes the news and creates an experience that engages and entertains. News-O-Matic is a daily newspaper application which includes five daily news stories, detailed images, videos, illustrations, maps, timelines, and games.“[/box]

This is exactly what I was looking for. Something made for her that is positive.

Kayla liked everything this app had to offer:

  • Daily Jokes (she loves a good laugh)
  • Stories that involve other kids
  • She is able to share what she thinks about the different articles
  • Draw Pictures
  • Visit the Newsroom and write to the editor
  • Games to Play

Today she was able read about kids in California trying to set a new world record for a hula hoop workout. That is something that is more age appropriate and interesting to her. The idea of her being exposed to local and national news in this way is a comfort to me. And the best part is she is still learning!

Kayla thought it would be a good idea if there were word searches and maybe a comic strip too. I think that is a pretty good idea and suggested she send a message to the editor about it.

Make sure to like Press4Kids on Facebook and follow on Twitter  for the latest updates.

As a special thank you for sharing this I will receive a 3-month subscription to News-O-Matic and goodie bag. My opinion is 100% mine as always.
