My Review of a Personalized Bacon Prepaid Card from Card.com

comppost

card.com

CARD.com offers  a fun and personalized way to bank online! You can choose from 1000′s of different brands and designs you love and express yourself while you spend. The debit cards can be used everywhere Visa is accepted.

I do not have any credit cards. I have not used any for years because I like to stay within my budget and only spend what I have available. Interest charges are no fun and expensive. Very expensive and I learned my lesson years ago.

When I heard about Card.com I was intersted in learning more. They have prepaid debit cards that everyone is approved for. There are no credit checks. It is free to order or activate your card.

The features of Card.com prepaid debit cards include:

  • 22,000 in-network ATMs
  • Free direct deposit
  • Free app and check deposits from your smartphone
  • Visa fraud protection
  • Free card-to-card transfers, any time, anywhere, in seconds
  • 100% FDIC insurance on funds
  • 24/7 customer support

Card.com offers its customers the opportunity to personalize their cards. You can choose from 1000′s of different brands and designs. When I went over to their site to pick my design it was a little overwhelming. There is a lot to choose from:

  • Hello Kitty
  • The Walking Dead
  • Hell’s Kitchen
  • Moustche
  • Kitten
  • Paws For Thoughts and more

I wasn’t sure what I was looking for exactly and then I thought about it and it came to me. Bacon! I typed bacon into the search bar and they had a few to pick from. I did not think a bacon design would be an option! This is the one I choose.

The setup process is pretty easy. The hardest part is picking a design. My bacon card arrived in 6 days.

After activating it online, I had no problems using it. I even got a compliment using it. I used it to buy some bacon, lettuce and tomatoes. The cashier said “Man, you must really like bacon!” Of course I smile back at her and told her I love it!  I told her I got it  from Card.com.

You can load money using their app to take a picture of a check, PayPal, Western Union, direct deposit or Green Dot Money Pak. There is no fee charged by Card.com to load money, but there is a fee if  you use the Green Dot Money Pak.  That cost is $4.95 and your funds are available within 30 minutes. If you use your PayPal or bank account you can load money for free and your money will be available within 3 to 4 business days.

Using a prepaid debit card from Card.com is free for 30 days. Then there is $5.95 monthly fee. The fee is waived if you direct deposit over $800 in the previous 30 days.

Remember to keep these costs in mind because you don’t want any surprises when keeping track of your money. If you are able to direct deposit over $800 every month this card may work for you. You will have no overdraft fees, fraud protection and your money is insured. Plus you can have the added bonus of having a debit card that reflects your personality.

Bacon Claw Machine Update!

Back in May I wrote a post about a bacon claw machine I found at The Kalahari Indoor Theme Park in Wisconsin Dells.

I did not win anything from it. While I was sad, I was looking forward to the next time we visited the dells  so my husband could try again.

Well last month, Lisa, the Merchandise Director for Family Entertainment Group sent me an email. She mentioned that she also designed the bacon plushes in the claw machine. She offered to send me one since I did not win one. How cool is that?

Of course I accepted her kind gesture. This is what she sent me in the mail.

A box of two bacon and two egg plushes and a few bacon necklaces! As you can see Kayla has already claimed one.  The packaging for the bacon necklaces even smell like bacon!

This was a wonderful surprise and I am proudly displaying them in my home. I love them! They are very special to me and a great addition to my collection.

Thanks Lisa!

Bacon Sunflower Seeds

A month or so ago I went shopping for my Husband at Cabela’s. Guess what caught my eye near the cash registers? Sunflower seeds made with bacon salt!

I just had to grab a pack. I have seen ranch and barbeque sunflower seeds but never bacon.

And yes they do taste like bacon!

I Finally Was Able To Try One

A Maple Bacon  Donut. Thanks to my friend Maureen, from Wisconsin Mommy, who told me Sendik’s had these donuts on sale for only 99¢ !

I have heard the rumors that such a donut existed.  I have seen the pictures. Yesterday I hurried to my nearest Sendik’s. The person behind the counter told she just sold the last one. I had missed it by only 3 minutes!

I had doubts I would ever see one with my own two eyes. Then my wonderful  sweet husband came home today with this in a bag:

Maple Bacon Donut

Even the kids were excited! I cut it into pieces so everyone could try some. Jazz refused to because bacon does not belong a donut.

So Did I Like It?

It was good. The bacon could have been a little more crispy. I tasted more maple than bacon. I am not a big fan of maple so I did not like the sweetness or aftertaste.

TJ, Nannah and Kayla really liked it.

I Found A Bacon Claw Machine!

If you know me, it goes without saying, I love bacon. I always have. My earliest memories go back to my grandmother cooking bacon when I was little. Nice and crispy is the way she cooked it and the only way I will eat it.

I have even talked about it a few times. Here it is mentioned in my post “Are You Kidding Me, A BaconFest?“.

So the family and I are visiting the Kalahari Indoor Theme Park in Wisconsin Dells. This is our first time visiting the Kalahari and I am pretty excited because I know the kids will have lots of fun. A few minutes after we come through the door, the kids are running towards me yelling “Mom, bacon!”. I am like what, where?

And then I see a beautiful thing.

After seeing this, I was all smiles. Surely any place that has a bacon claw machine can not be disappointing 🙂

King’s Hawaiian Mini Chicken Ranch Pizzas and a #Giveaway

One of the meals my entire family enjoys making is homemade pizza. There is nothing like eating a pizza you created. One of the best parts is you control how much of your favorite toppings you add.

A few nights ago we decided to make some mini pizzas for dinner. I tried something a little different this time, I decided to use King’s Hawaiian Savory Butter Rolls.

Ingredients

  • 1 package of King’s Hawaiian Savory Butter Rolls
  • 1 Cup shredded Pizzeria Cheese (mixture of mozzarella and provolone cheese)
  • Ranch Sauce
  • Grilled Chicken pieces
  • Bacon

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Cut rolls in halves

Squeeze desired amount of ranch sauce on each halve.

Spread out the ranch sauce and add a small slice of bacon

Add shredded cheese

Put all of the roll halves on a cookie sheet, spread out

Cook in oven for 6-8 minutes.

The bread comes out a little crispy. If you want it to have more crisp, cook 2-3 minutes longer. Keep an eye on it.

The amount of toppings used can be adjusted according to your personal tastes.

This is one of my favorite recipes to share with friends and family.  What is your favorite dish to share with the family?  Comment below and you’ll be entered to win a $200 Grocery gift card King’s Hawaiian.
