TORUK: The First Flight Is Must See Show!

Last night my family and I were able to check out Toruk: The First Flight by Cirque du Soleil on opening night. We have never been to a Cirque du Soleil performance but I have always  wanted to see one.

The show is a mythical tale set thousands of years before the events depicted in the film AVATAR.

toruk-first-flight-milwaukeeWhen a natural catastrophe threatens to destroy the sacred Tree of Souls, Ralu and Entu, two Omaticaya boys on the brink of adulthood, fearlessly decide to take matters into their own hands. Upon learning that Toruk can help them save the Tree of Souls, they set out, together with their newfound friend Tsyal, on a quest high up in the Floating Mountains to find the mighty red and orange predator that rules the Pandoran sky. Prophecy is fulfilled when a pure soul rises among the clans to ride Toruk for the first time and save the Na’vi from a terrible fate.”

We thought the show was absolutely amazing. There were beautiful and vibrant colors used throughout the performance that kept us mesmerized. My son TJ (16) was not sure what to expect because he thought the show would be geared more towards younger children but it is not. It is definitely family entertainment. He is also a huge fan of Avatar and loved seeing this show.

The stage is massive and Cirque du Soliel used it very well. Between the performers and set, every inch was used.

We were very impressed with the special effects. It was done in such a way, when lava or water flowed it looked real. It did not seem like we were watching a show on a set. We felt like we were really there, even when the scene would change.

The show was better than I thought. There was music, a great story, talented acrobats, puppets and a wonderful kite performance. There was never a dull moment. I was thoroughly entertained and I want to see more Cirque du Soleil shows!

Toruk: The First Flight is a little over 2 hours long with a 20 minute intermission. If you have ever wanted to see the Cirque Du Soleil perfom, this is your chance! They will be in Milwaukee until September 25th.

Tickets are available for sale at Ticketmaster, use the code CHILD25 to purchase children’s tickets for only $25! There are a variety of showtimes for TORUK – The First Flight, so check out the link!

The Kids Met A Zombie This Weekend

Saturday Kris from Little Tech Girl was hosting a Plants vs Zombies 2 Party. My family had to go because we are huge fans of both Plants vs Zombies games. I have already completed the second version.

We have it on all our devices now that it can be played on Android systems. I really like the pinata bonus. Since there are no mini games, this is a great way to win extra coins, plants, etc.

At the party, the kids were able to catch a picture with a zombie.

IMG_4633The zombie did not bother Kayla much, but it was kind of freaking TJ out a little.

20131109_153117[1]TJ was able to play Plants Vs Zombies on the Lenovo Yoga tablet.

squashAll the kids at the party received their very own plush Squash. He is favorite in our house! It was a great party with food, music and lots of playing Plants vs Zombie 2. Everyone had a good time!

Check out Little Tech Chick on Twitter to see all the pics from the party.

Have you had a chance to play Plants vs Zombies 2 yet?

If You Get The Chance, Go To Lego KidsFest!

legoIt is truly not just for kids. My family had the pleasure of attending LEGO KidsFest when it came to Milwaukee last month. As an adult I was just as amazed as my kids, if not more so. Before I start to tell you about our experience, I want to mention that I was provided with free passes. My family had such a great time I would not have had any problem paying the $20 ticket price. There was a lot to do. We stayed from 3:30 to 7:30 and the  kids wanted to stay longer but I was all walked out, in a good way!

The first thing we saw upon entering was all of the statutes made of Legos. My mind was blown by the incredible attention paid to details as well as the amount of LEGOs used. We saw Spongebob, Batman, dinosaurs, Star Wars characters and more.

The staff were very nice, informative and even willing to pose for pictures!

My daughter Kayla did not realize just how many LEGO bricks there were until she saw them loose in piles.

My kids had a great time at a section that was for tattoos, face painting and hair dying. TJ’s thick hair sucked all the dye up!

If building with multi-colored LEGO bricks are not your cup of tea, they were stations where you could build with one color and one color only!

We spent a majority of our time over at Creation Nation. This is where imaginations can run wild! You start with a green base and build until you heart’s content.  You creation is this placed on this huge map of your state. The kids can even choose where to put their creation on the map.

There was a little bit of everything to do from building cars to race and playing games for prizes to just letting your creative juices flow.

We had a wonderful time at LEGO KidsFest.

My nephew, who was almost 8 months at the time had a great time too!
The next stop for the Lego KidsFest is in Austin, Texas August 31st – September 2nd. Check the website to see if LEGO KidsFest is coming near you soon!

1StopMom was provided with free passes to attend this event. Our opinions are 100% ours as always.
