Aroma Sense Vitamin C Luxury Shower Head Giveaway

Everyone knows that life can get pretty stressful at times. I am a huge fan of products that help me relax. Besides curling up with a good book or watching a movie I love to unwind in the shower. I use the uninterrupted time to clear my mind and to do a little singing. I sound amazing in there!

I was recently sent a Aroma Sense Vitamin C Luxury Shower Head to try out. This came at the perfect time because we did our main bathroom over a few months ago. I am talking paint, new flooring, new toilet and vanity. I have not had the chance to pick out a new shower head yet.

What stood out to me about Aroma Sense is that it uses essential oils. I have been using aromatherapy a lot lately and it works great for me. I have found it makes a difference and I use my diffuser on a daily basis.

The Opus Wall Mounted Aroma Sense Shower Head comes with a filter and a Vitamin C cartridge.

aroma sense shower head

It is very easy to assemble and install.  You just need to make sure you plier wrench and you are good to go! It will not take long at all.

The Aroma Sense Vitamin C Luxury Shower Head is so refreshing while helping me to de-stress. It smells so good when I take a shower and the scent lingers which is an added bonus! The water pressure with this shower head is pretty nice too. I was a little worried about this but the water comes out well and feels like a nice massage.

The Aroma Vitamin C Cartridge helps to promote healthy skin and hair while reducing the amount of chlorine in your shower water. The cartridge last about 60-90 days, it depends on how much it is used. It will turn clear when it needs to replaced. There are quite a few scents to choose from:

  • Citrus Mango
  • Lemon
  • Lavender
  • Eucalyptus
  • Jasmine

There is even a neutral option if you don’t want the aromatherapy enhancement but still want the Vitamin C benefits.

Winter Survival Kit: 4 Secrets to Survive Winter Like an Arctic Boss

It has started to get a little colder here in Wisconsin. I finally had to turn on the heat! I was holding out as long as I could but it has gotten pretty chilly around here. I have lived in Wisconsin my entire life so I know how cold it can get during Winter. I recently partnered with Kungs , a Finnish producer of premium snow brushes and ice scrapers that are tested in the harshest Arctic conditions, to bring you some fun expert tips from one of the coldest countries on Earth: Finland.

survive winter like an artic boss

KUNGS’ 4 SECRETS TO SURVIVE WINTER LIKE AN ARTIC BOSS

1. USE THE COLD TO YOUR ADVANTAGE
Low temperatures inspire many in the Nordic region to get together outside and enjoy the ‘fresh’ weather that only winter can bring. Take advantage of what winter has to offer: Plan a day trip to your nearest sauna, go sledding on the nearest hill or simply throw snow at your friends and family. It is always fun to make snowman or build a fort, the entire family can join in.  Here’s a “cool” idea: Pack a warm thermos of soup to enjoy after a wintertime ski run—and have a picnic right in the snow!

2. DRESS LIKE YOU MEAN IT
One of the key reasons winter-haters despise the cold is that they simply don’t know how to dress for it. The people of the Arctic know better. It’s easy: Before heading outside, make sure you’re properly clothed. The secret? Multiple layers. A thick winter coat is essential, along with waterproof gloves, wool socks, a scarf, a hat, and of course, snow boots! Several layers of pants can help, as well. Arctic tip: Allow yourself some extra time (10 minutes) to get in and out of those extra articles of clothing.

3. WINTERIZE YOUR CAR
Got a car? Then you’re going to want to prepare it to handle winter conditions without a hitch. Stock your car with an emergency kit, consider winter tires for better traction, and thoroughly check your battery before the cold strikes. In winter precipitation, visibility is crucial. Keep both a snow brush and a durable ice scraper on hand—and be sure your ice scraper can de-ice windshield wipers. I recommend grabbing Kungs ice scrapers and snow brushes, which are available at Sears Auto Centers across the Northeast.

4. YOU CAN ENJOY WINTER INDOORS, TOO
The winter months are ideal for wrapping up in a blanket and cozying up next to a warm fireplace (or space heater), glass of wine in hand. Even the best Arctic bosses aren’t afraid to enjoy the warmth and comfort of a winter day indoors. Arctic boss tip: Get cozy with your significant other and surprise them with a hot cocktail!

Many of us complain about winter and wish it would end sooner. But as the folks in Northern Europe know better than any of us, winter is a special season that can be thoroughly enjoyed—if you make the appropriate preparations. With my Kungs snow brushes and ice scrapers, and multiple layers of clothing, I’m ready for an adventurous winter on the road!

kung snow brush

Made in Finland, a country with some of the harshest winters on the planet, Kungs snow brushes and ice scrapers combine Scandinavian design and ergonomics with the durability needed to handle whatever winter throws at you. Once I compared Kungs with other products on the market—or even (gasp) my credit card for ice scraping (admit it, you’ve done it)—there really was no comparison. Kungs just launched their line of environmentally friendly products (complete with a three-year warranty!) in the U.S., exclusively at Sears Auto Centers.

7 Tips To Prepare Your Home For Winter

Even though it has been unusually warm here in Wisconsin, before we know it colder temperatures will be here. I think it is the perfect time to start getting your home ready for Winter.

The onset and arrival of colder temperatures means that it’s time once again to brace yourself – and your home – for everything that winter weather threatens to throw at you. From cool, drafty air wafting into your house to friends and family bringing snow and sand inside with them, it’s important to remember the preparation to go through before winter strikes.

In order to help keep your home warm, cozy and clean throughout the winter months, follow these seven tips to get started:

7 Tips To Prepare Your Home For Winter

Check the Roof
With warm days dwindling, it’s never too early to look over your roof for damaged shingles or other various problems. Early this year the wind was really brutal, so it is very important that my husband checks for loose shingles. The cold weather brings lots of precipitation and cracks in the roof can cause major issues down the road. If heights and ladders aren’t your thing, try using binoculars from ground level to check things out.

Clean the Gutters
After the trees shake loose of their leaves throughout the fall, it’s always imperative to keep the gutters clean of debris. If your gutters fill up with leaves and other junk, the runoff from rain and snow has nowhere to go except in unwanted crevices in your roof. The trees on our property are not close to the house but all you need is a few windy days and the leaves get everywhere, including the gutters.

Seal Leaks Around Windows and Doors
Caulk is a cheap, simple solution to one of winter’s most annoying little habits – sending cold drafts into your house. Look closely as you check around windows and doors for small cracks then carefully seal up the problem.

Install Door Sweeps
Another way to keep warm air in and cool air out is to use door sweeps on the bottom of all exterior doors. A door sweep is a simple device that can be attached to the door frame to help seal the space between the bottom of the door and the floor.

Reverse Ceiling Fans
While some ceiling fans require flipping blades, most new fans simply have a reverse feature to make the blades spin clockwise. This easy fix can help pull room air upward and cause warm air – which has risen to the ceiling – to be forced back downward. We have ceiling fans in almost every room in the house except the bathrooms and changing the direction does make a difference.

Keep Out Salt and Snow
Rather than sweeping and vacuuming your entryway every evening, place rugs and storage bins close to your front door, garage and any other entrance to the home so that you and your guests don’t track salt and snow into the house when inclement weather hits.

Stock Up on Winter Gear
I always make sure to purchase winter essentials before the first snowfall. I don’t want to end up at the store with everyone else trying to get gloves, hats, salt or shovels. I try most of our winter gear when it on sale at the end of the season for the next year. I save a lot of money this way and I store it where I can easily find it.

Winter can be a pain, especially for homeowners, but staying on top of your preparation and being ready for cold weather can help make snow season easier to handle. For more tips to get your home ready for winter, visit elivingtoday.com.

Be Prepared To Tackle Spring Cleaning! #SpringClean16

This post is sponsored by Kimberly-Clark and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.
K-C Spring Cleaning VivaFB Post_FINALIt is officially Spring! After being cooped up for so long I am very happy that I can finally air my house out. I look forward to Spring Cleaning and getting everything organized. There is so much to do that it can be overwhelming. The best way to handle tackling a deep house cleaning is to plan ahead.

It is so important to make a list. If you don’t have one or know what to include, feel free to use my Spring Cleaning Checklist printable.

1stopmom Spring Cleaning Checklist

By making a list, you are able to make sure that you are prepared with everything you need to make Spring Cleaning as easy as possible. The checklist I included is a list of tasks that can be completed throughout your entire house. I also created a blank checklist that you can use for your specific home needs. You can print one for each room and pass them out to your spouse and kids. My entire family helps with spring cleaning.

#SpringClean16

The kids and I went to Walmart to stock up on cleaning supplies including Viva®, Scott®, and Cottonelle® products.
SpringClean16 Walmart 1

I was happy to find plenty of the products in stock. There are lots of different sizes available but I bought the biggest ones because I like to buy in bulk. Less trips to store work for me!

I like Viva® Towels because you can use them for just more than cleaning up spills. They are made to be strong and durable like cloth. There are two types: Viva® Towels and Viva® Vantage®.

Viva® Towels have a signature soft and smooth texture, like an undershirt cloth. They are perfect for cleaning delicate surfaces like  kitchen countertops and tv stands, and still be soft enough for the hands and face. We used them to wash dishes, wipe baseboards, ceiling fan blades and more. They held up well to multiple rinses.

Viva® Vantage® has a scrubby texture, like a terrycloth. They are perfect for those messes that require a little scrubbing like grill grates, stovetops, ovens and bathroom counters.

While shopping for cleaning supplies, I decided to do some bathroom restocking. In addition to replacing our shower liner, toothbrushes, first aid kit and toilet brush I wanted to make sure we had plenty of toilet paper. We have two bathrooms and I personally love having Cottonelle® in mine.

I always get a kick out of those talking about your bum commercials. It is not just the commercials I like but the CleanRipple Texture that only Cottonelle® has , which is designed to clean better. The CleanCare is my favorite because it is very soft and absorbent.

As a backup I bought some Scott® 1000 too. I can never go wrong with keeping the kids’ bathroom stocked with 1000 sheets! It is long lasting and I don’t hear ” We’re out of toilet paper” quite so often.

Get Creative When It Comes To Home Storage

Creative Ways to Add Order to Your Home

Although there are hundreds of options for organizing your home, the pieces you make yourself are the ones that truly reflect your personality. Adding your own flair to standard organizing materials adds instant character and functionality to any room.

Making the most of your space – including your walls – is the key to successful organizing. Channel your inner creativity with help from the crafting experts at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores and add chic style to your storage with distressed wooden boxes hung to create artful, cubby shelves or this hanging bulletin board, which uses cleverly stylish clothespins and clips to protect your treasured photos and messages from thumbtack punctures.

Wall Organization
Crafting time: More than 5 hours
Skill level: Beginner

Supplies and Tools:

  • 1 1-inch flat brush
  • 1 each Homedecor Chalk Finish Paint: Teal, Sheepskin, Cascade, Parisian Grey, Oatmeal
  • 3 large Woodline Works unfinished crates
  • 2 small Woodline Works unfinished crates
  • sandpaper
  • old rag or soft cloth
  • 1 bottle Homedecor white wax

Instructions:

  1. Paint each box a different color and let dry.
  2. Paint the box again using a different color than the bottom color and let dry.
  3. Lightly to moderately sand each box to expose paint underneath to give each box a distressed look.
  4. Using an old rag or soft cloth, rub each sanded box with white wax and let dry. Buff each box to give it a finished look and feel. Hang boxes in a cluster to create a shelf organizer with multiple storage spaces.

DIY Burlap Bulletin Board

Crafting time: Varies
Skill level: Intermediate

Supplies and Tools:

Instructions:

  1. Cut burlap about 5 inches wider and longer than cork board.
  2. Place burlap (pattern down) on a smooth surface and center cork board (face down) on top of it. Wrap burlap around edges of board and staple it to the back using a staple gun, pulling burlap tight as you go. Notch out burlap and staple around it to allow for holes to hang the cork board.
  3. Staple burlap along the length of the board on both sides before working on corners. Then, take a corner piece and pull it tight toward center of the board and staple. If any staples are sticking up, use small hammer to tap in tighter.
  4. Use coordinating grosgrain ribbon to create a decorative border. Use glue dot runner to apply glue dots to one side of ribbon along a length about 2 inches shorter than cork board. Starting 1 inch in from the edge of the board, lay down glue-dotted ribbon so that it adheres to burlap. At the corner, flip ribbon over and follow same steps for the next side. A small dot of glue from hot glue gun will help keep corners flat and in place.
  5. To personalize and embellish board: hot glue thumbtacks onto back of chalkboard clothespins clips, which won’t puncture holes in letters or notes that are attached to the board. Add decorative ribbons and trim that add a unique element and pop of color.

Discovering Wind Power with Xcel Energy’s Windsource Program

One of the highest bills I have had to pay besides my mortgage is my energy bill. Even on a budget plan, our pockets take a hit each month. This has caused me to pay attention to other energy sources, especially renewable energy sources, which are good for the environment. Renewable energy comes from natural sources that are constantly and sustainably replenished.

I have read a little about wind power before as a renewable energy source. Wind power is power obtained by harnessing the energy of the wind.

Xcel Energy has been the number provider of wind power for the last ten years. Xcel Energy has nearly 5,300 megawatts of wind on their system, enough to power nearly 2.7 million average-size homes annually. They offer the Windsource program, a voluntary green power program, giving customers the choice to support renewable energy, provided by Xcel Energy.

How does the Windsource program work?

Windsource® enables Xcel Energy’s electric customers to purchase renewable energy, generated above and beyond the renewable energy in our standard energy supply. The program offers customers a choice on how they want to use energy. Windsource customers pay a small premium in return for the environmental attributes of the renewable energy, giving them the right to make the claim that they are powered by renewable energy. Windsource currently operates in five of Xcel Energy’s eight states: Colorado, Minnesota, New Mexico, Wisconsin and Michigan.

Benefits of Joining Windsource

  • Allows residents the opportunity to support the increase in the renewable energy generation, and to be a part of a growing community of environmentally-sensitive consumers. Support energy sources that take advantage of abundant natural resources like the wind and sun
  • Support affordable and domestic energy production that provides electricity price stability and prepares us for the future
  • Increase local economic development for rural communities including jobs, tax revenue and income for landowners
  • Benefit from a cleaner environment
  • It’s an easy, inexpensive way to support renewable energy.

How to enroll in Windsource Program

Residential electric customers can call Xcel Energy at 1-800-895-4999 or visit ResponsibleByNature.com/Windsource to enroll.

Business electric customers can contact their account manager or call their Business Solutions Center at 1-800-481-4700.

Subscription Amounts:

Customers choose how much of their energy they’d like to get from Windsource.

  • They can start with one block per month, which is the equivalent of 100 kilowatt-hours of electricity, or about enough electricity to power the lights in a typical home for a month*. (The cost per block varies by state.)

They can also choose to get 100% of their energy from Windsource.

  • The money received from Windsource customers is used to purchase wind energy.
  • The premium shows up on the customer’s monthly energy bill.

For more information including state-specific costs, program info, enrollment form links, visit ResponsibleByNature.com/Windsource .
