Pretzilla Soft Pretzels Review and Giveaway

1Stopmom was provided with samples for review purposes. Opinions are 100% my own.
Sandwiches are a meal time favorite in my house. My kids are at the age where they like to make their own sandwiches. We don’t agree what fillings make the perfect sandwich. Kayla loves to use avocado and lot of other veggies. Savannah likes a variety of cheeses and TJ doesn’t like tomatos anywhere near his sandwich.  Of course I like to use banana peppers and bacon with lots of meat.  The one thing we can all agree on is how important the bread is. It can make or break a sandwich.

I was recently sent some soft pretzel buns from Pretzilla to try. They are made by Miller Baking Company, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Soft Pretzel Bites: Regular with Cheese, Wheat and Regular

Pretzilla Soft Pretzels are very fresh. They are made with natural ingredients so I had to eat them within a day or two or freeze them. I put them right in the freezer because I did not want them to go bad. When I was ready to try them, I just set them on the counter to thaw for a few hours.

While they were thawing out i made some BLT Cream Cheese Dip.

The kids and I went right for the bites. That first bite was amazing! The pretzel was very soft and melted in my mouth. We did not even have to warm them up. They were that good. I am thinking about buying some more and pouring nacho cheese over some pretzel bites right out the oven!

pretzilla pretzel bitesThe Pretzilla Soft Pretzel Bites taste great by themselves or with a little dip. You get around 13 in a package and would a great snack. They are perfect for sharing too!

I tried the buns and made some sandwiches. Just a little bacon, cheese, ham and pastrami. First I made one using the Pretzilla Mini Buns.

Then I made a sandwich using the Pretzilla Soft Pretzilla Burger Buns.pretzilla bacon sandwich

Both sandwiches held together while eating them. The bread was soft and has a very slight sweetness to it. I love the Pretzilla Pretzel Buns without the salt and my husband agrees with me. My son TJ thinks the salt makes the bread better. It is nice to have a choice about whether or not to use salt. Pretzilla Soft Pretzels are delicous and we will be buying more. It took our sandwiches up a level.  These pretzels are also vegan, nut free and kosher.  I was so glad to hear they are nut free because my nephew has a nut allergy. I am always interested in food he can actually eat! If you are local to Milwaukee, you can find Pretzilla Soft Pretzel Buns at the Wisconsin Cheese Mart, Sendik’s, Woodmans and other other grocery stores. Pretzilla is available throughout the country and you can even order online. Check out the Pretzilla website to see where you can buy Pretzilla Soft Pretzel Buns near you.

The drinks are pretty good there too. I had to try a frozen strawberry maragarita.

My family had such a good time. I did not take as many pictures as I usually do when I covering an event because I was really caught up in the game.

National Volleyball Tourament 2015

If you ever have a chance to see a volleyball tournament in person, just go. We were so into the games. I love it when the players dive in the sand to get ball! The games were pretty intense too. No blow outs and the scores were pretty close most of the time.

In addition to seeing some great volleyball, players are also walking around interacting with the public. It was nice to see them tossing the ball back and forth with fans. There were smiles all around. The weather wasn’t bad and it was a great way to spend the day.

July 12, 2015 the fun starts at 9.:30 a.m. Check out the schedule for more information.

Give The Ultimate Father’s Day Gift: Bratfast In Bed!

This post was sponsored by Johnsonville. All opinions are 100% my own.

I love when Father’s Day comes around because I get a chance to spoil one of the best fathers I know, my Husband. He is everything I ever wanted in a Dad when we started this parenting journey 21 years ago. Patient, generous, loving, fair and kind.

my familia

He is a strong shoulder for them to lean on and is always there to listen with open ears and no judgement. He never complains, doesn’t ask for much and is happiest when he is fishing.

Father’s Day gives us an opportunity to show him just how much we appreciate and love him. Every year we try to surprise him with something different because we like to keep him on his toes. We celebrate him all day and Johnsonville gave us an idea to start the day right in a unique way. Bratfast in bed!

We live in Wisconsin and never get tired of eat Johnsonville Brats.  We eat them year round and will even grill in the winter.  So it makes perfect sense to surprise my husband with Bratfast in bed. He is the early riser in our house so he would never expect it.

We grilled him some of the original Johnsonville Brats. They offer different flavors but you can never go wrong with original. He loves his bread toasted so Kayla did that for him and they added coleslaw on top of the brat. Johnsonville sent us a food tray to deliver my husband’s Bratfast in bed. I included a Wisconsin Brat-y Mary and the remote for the tv.

The kids were pretty happy at the chance to do something for their Dad!

My husband was surprised because Father’s Day isn’t until Sunday so we caught him off guard! Kayla asked him did he mind having a brat for breakfast and of course he didn’t!

Chocolate Fest 2015

It is time for the Annual Chocolate Fest in Burlington, Wisconsin. Celebrating its 29th year, ChocolateFest is held on 20-acre festival grounds and run exclusively by volunteers to raise money for over 60 local civic groups, non-profit organizations and charities. In 2014 the festival generated a total of $118,621, all of which was given back to those groups. Because at its delicious core, ChocolateFest is just as much about giving back to the community as it is chocolate.

My family attended ChocolateFest yesterday and had a nice time even though I forgot to visit the Chocolate tent! Don’t ask me how I missed the main reason I went. I was kind of busy eating some delicious treats.

Next to the food, my favorite part of ChocolateFest was the fireworks. I love fireworks and try to see them as much as I can during the warmer months.

Mushroom, Kale and Caramelized Onion Pizza

This post  was written in partnership with Door to Door Organics in exchange for a gift certificate. All opinion are 100% my own as always.

Last month my family had the pleasure of trying Door To Door Organics, a grocery delivery service. Feel free to read my review to see what type of food you will find and more about Door To Door Organics.  I have really enjoyed cooking with the food that we had delivered. I wanted to share a recipe my daughters and I  recently made.

Mushroom, Kale and Caramelized Onion Pizza

1 Pizza crust
2 tablespoons of olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 bunch chopped kale
3/4 cup of pizza sauce
1 cup chopped yellow onion
4 ounces mozzarella cheese
8 ounces of sliced mushrooms

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Heat up the olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat.  Add the chopped onion. Cook onion and stir 8 minutes or until the onion turns golden brown. Add the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms. Cook and stir for 5 minutes. Add the kale, cover and cook 2-4 minutes or until kale is wilted.  Uncover and continue cooking and stirring for 5 minutes.

Spread pizza sauce over pizza crust. Spread the mushroom and kale mixture over the sauce. Top with cheese. Bake 10 minutes or until crust is golden brown.

The pizza came out great! My 16 year old, Savannah, even it liked it. She added a little italian seasoning to hers which she said made it perfect. I really should have made two pizzas because it went pretty quickly.

MinuteClinic Has Come To Wisconsin!

minute clinic in wisconsin

You can not control when you get hurt or injured. Back in October I sprained my ankle and my urgent care clinic was closed. I was in a lot of pain and it would have be great if I would have had another option.

Select CVS/Pharmacy stores have a MinuteClinic. The MinuteClinic has nurse practitioners who specialize in family health care and can diagnose, treat and write prescriptions for common family illnesses such as strep throat and ear, eye, sinus, bladder and bronchial infections. Minor wounds, abrasions, skin conditions and joint sprains are treated. This is exactly what I needed after I fell.

CVS Minute Clinic

The first MinuteClinic locations recently opened in Wisconsin:

  • Menomonee Falls:  N. 83 W15550 Appleton Ave
  • Milwaukee:  1650 Farwell Ave.
  • Milwaukee:  3860 S. 27th St.
  • Waukesha:  1130 W. Sunset Dr.

The MinuteClinic walk-in medical clinics in Wisconsin are open 7 days a week.  The hours are:

  •  8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
  •  9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday
  • 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday

You can go to a MinuteClinic for  common vaccinations such as influenza, tetanus and pneumonia. Hepatitis A & B are available at most locations. Walk-in camp, sports and college physicals are also available daily.

As a busy parent, I know how hard it can be to get a last minute appointment when your child is sick. It can be pretty close to impossible, especially since the weather has gotten colder. Those coughs, fevers and sore throats pop up pretty quick.  The MinuteClinic is perfect for getting your child seen quickly and on the way to feeling better. Plus peace of mind for you.

MinuteClinic also administers a series of wellness services designed to help patients identify lifestyle changes needed to improve their current and future health, including screenings and monitoring for diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

At the conclusion of each visit, MinuteClinic practitioners give the patient a visit summary, educational material and a prescription (when clinically appropriate).  A diagnostic record is sent via electronic health record, fax or mail to the patient’s primary care provider with permission.

The clinics accept most insurance and a national study found that the overall cost for care initiated at retail clinics was substantially lower than similar treatment at physician offices, urgent care centers and emergency rooms. The MinuteClinic provides a price list of services provided so you can know what to expect.

Three more MinuteClinic location will be coming to Wisconsin soon. In December, the Whitefish Bay location, 240 E. Hampton Rd will be opening. In early 2015, 2 locations will be opening. Fox Point,  8667 N. Port Washing Rd and Kenosha, 3710 57th Ave.

Vist the MinuteClinic website for more information.
