Around this time of year people are still working on the goals that were set for the new year. I know my goals include a few new habits I want to create for myself. I want to walk on my treadmill for at least 15 minutes every day at noon. I work from my computer so I spend hours sitting down. I definitely want to break that habit. I want to eat out less and cook more food at home. So I have been doing menu planning. Sometimes it is only a few days at a time but I am doing it. And it has been working!
I know that first hand that getting into the habit of doing something is often easier said than done. I can pick up bad habits with no problem. I have a bad habit of having the t.v. on when I am working to break up the silence. Of course sometimes whatever is playing is so good and distracting I end up watching t.v. instead of working. To break this habit I started to leave the tv off. I needed another way to break up the silence so I like to switch between listening to an audiobook or listening to music. My public library offers free audiobooks to listen to that I can access from my phone. This has really helped me. My echo show comes in handy as well. I have Kindle Unlimited so I can have books read to me that way as well.
