Today is National Tooth Fairy Day. Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin wants to remind kids and parents that a child’s oral health is a critical part of total well-being.
Were you aware that more than half of Wisconsin kids experience tooth decay before third grade? Simple steps like brushing for two minutes twice per day, eating healthy foods and drinking water with fluoride can reverse the trend.
Starting today August, 22, 2014, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin is having its’ largest dental giveaway ever. They will be distributing 80,000 Oral-B toothbrushes and toothpastes at the 125 McDonald’s restaurants throughout southeastern Wisconsin. The dental items are free to any child, no purchase necessary and while supplies last.
McDonald’s is a partner on the initiative as part of its commitment to making an impact in the areas of nutrition and children’s well-being. Since 2012, the Happy Meal has automatically included apple slices and reduced child-size French fries. McDonald’s has served more than 1.1 billion bags of apple slices since then. In July 2014, customers were given the option to choose between a bag of apple slices or Go-GURT® Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt made exclusively for McDonald’s.
Don’t forget to schedule dental checks in addition to immunizations and other health screenings.
