This review was written in partnership with Door to Door Organics in exchange for a gift certificate. All opinion are 100% my own as always.
Years ago we used to get frozen food delivered through a service and I thought that was the best thing in the world. Every month our freezer what get filled up and I only had to go to the grocery store for pantry items, fresh fruits and vegetables. When the company closed I never thought I would find any else like it.
A few weeks ago I was introduced to Door To Door Organics and had the opportunity to review their online store.
“A Louisville, Colo.-based company that delivers boxes brimming with farm-fresh organic produce and curated natural, local artisan groceries to homes, schools, and offices. Door To Door Organics only offer 100% organic produce. They only partner with farmers and ranchers who are committed to the health of the land and the welfare of their animals. These often local producers raise animals the way nature intended—humanely, pasture-raised, cage-free, grass-fed, wild-caught.”
I was pretty excited to place my first order with Door To Door Organics. The site is set up in a way that makes it pretty easy to use. You have to enter your zip code to make sure delivery service is available in your area.
You have to choose what type of box you would like to order. This is a great idea because maybe one week you are in the mood for more fruit than vegetables and you can easily choose accordingly. Next you pick what size box you want. I have been using Door to Door Organics for three weeks. I have ordered the Bitty Mixed Box twice and the Large Mixed Box once. The large is great if you use a lot of fruits and veggies within in week otherwise a lot of food will go to waste. The Bitty Mixed Box is perfect for trying out a few pieces of fruits and vegetables.
Next you decide how often you want to get food delivered. The options are weekly or bi-weekly. Whatever choice you make, it is not permanent. You can even put your delivery on vacation for the times you don’t need anything.
One of the best things about Door To Door Organics is they offer more than just produce. You can find a variety of food to meet all of your needs.
You can shop through each individual category, by searching for products or use the kitchen tab.
I like this feature because it makes menu planning a snap! When you discover a recipe you would like to make, you can shop for the ingredients right there. You can choose to bookmark or print the recipe if you like.
I found grass-fed burgers, coffee, brownies, raisin bread, salsa, bacon, pita chips, pizza and more! There is a growing selection of food and I was very impressed. I saw quite a few brands I was familiar with.
I was able to find food for Kayla who does not eat meat very easily and this is a huge plus. She really enjoyed the variety, especially the veggie burgers! Her absolute favorite were the Boomerang Aussie Pies! They were very filling and full of flavor.
Door to Door Organics has such a large variety of foods, I was able to try some from local companies.
Di Salvo’s and Potter’s Crackers are in Madison, Wisconsin. Tapuat Kombucha is in Door County. Upton Naturals is not too far in Chicago, Illinois. These are all brands that I might not have discovered at my local grocery store.
I was very happy with the level of service provided by Door To Door Organics from ordering to delivery. While placing my order I was able to easily substitute produce in my box for food I wanted. The delivery man was pleasant and all smiles on delivery day even though it was a pretty bad snow day. I did not even want to be out in it! My food was packed very securely.
My boxes were delivered with a list of my items attached. There was even a little note about an item that was out of stock.
It was pretty nice to place my grocery order and get it all delivered with free shipping. The only thing I had to do was unpack and put the food away. We were very happy with all of our food. I fell in love with the Pink Lady Apples and Murcott Mandarins! All of the food was delicious and we had no complaints.
