The Holiday Season will officially start in Milwaukee on November 16th, 2017. It is time for the Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival Kick-Off Extravaganza. My family did not make it last year but we have been before and it is so beautiful. We will be there tomorrow night!
Over 500,000 lights will be turned on throughout downtown Milwaukee. All the pretty lights are one of my favorite things about the Holidays. You can’t help but smile seeing all the colors twinkling.
Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival Kick-Off Extravaganza starts with the 104th Annual City Christmas Tree Lighting at 5:20 p.m. There will be holiday music, cocoa and cookies, entertainment and jingle bus rides. Santa will be there too. Make sure you get there early so you don’t miss anything.
The best part is there will be a fireworks finale! I get excited whenever there are fireworks involved and I love that I get a chance to see them in November in Wisconsin!
The fireworks show should start around 7 p.m. But take my advice, get downtown early and bundle up! Especially if you have little ones! Parking downtown can be stressful, so the earlier you can get there the better. The last time we went we kind of stumbled across a great spot. This year I am going to get there as early as we can. Worst case scenario is we get there way before everything starts, but we will be fine. We have a DVD player in our van so we can watch a movie until it starts. It will all be worth it!
It all takes place at Pere Marquette Park, 900 N. Plankinton Ave. Pre-show entertainment starts at 5:30 p.m.; program begins at 6:30 p.m.; lighting and fireworks are at 7 p.m.
