Gone are the days of just playing Bingo with numbers. Now there are many variations that you can play during Family Game Night. Laurence King Publishing has a great selection of bingo games the entire family can enjoy.
There is something for everyone with choices that includes Bugs, Birds, Monkeys and Dogs. We were sent the Monkey Bingo game to review. The first thing I noticed were the beautiful illustrations on the sturdy box.
My son is 17 and even he was a interested when he saw the Monkey Bingo box. He loves animals and knows a lot about them. Right away he was telling us a few interesting facts about the Red-Ruffed Lemur.
Monkey Bingo focuses on monkeys and other primates. It features 64 illustrations of lemurs, gibbons, and primates. In the box there was a large Monkey Bingo calling board with 64 illustrations on it.
12 Monkey Bingo playing card with 25 random monkey illustrations.
A bag containing 64 illustrated monkey tokens. The bag has bright orange monkey silhouettes all over it. It closes with a drawstring so you don’t have to worry about loosing pieces.
There is also a plastic bag of 200 green counters for the bingo cards and a rule bug. The instruction booklet has only one page for the rules. The rest of it is a guide with facts about the monkeys and other primates.
We are family who loves learning and sharing facts so this game was fun us. We all have our areas of expertise when it comes to trivia and this is right up my husband’s and son’s alley. I can’t wait to play it with my nephew. They were quicker than me and my daughter but we are learning. Whenever he visits we like to play games and I am sure he will like this one.
I like that with Monkey Bingo you can play it 2 ways:
- Using the regular rules. The caller calls out the name of the monkey and the player with that monkey on his card covers it up with an orange marker. The first one to get five in a row wins.
- Using the challenging rules. The caller calls out descriptions instead of names. Again the first player to get five in a row wins.
The illustrations by Marcel George are beautiful. The design and quality of this game is exactly what I would expect from Laurence King. Monkey Bingo can be played with up to 12 people, ages 6 and up. It is a fun educational game made to last. You can find it at Amazon for $25.99
One reader will a copy of Monkey Bingo.
