My daughter Kayla, is always reading food labels. She likes to eat and prepare healthy food. She is definitely more aware of what she is eating than I was when I was 13. Slowly we are eating more and more food that is organic. It tastes better.
Sugar used to be my main way of sweetening food and drinks. I used to buy it a lot but I have gotten to the point where I rarely buy it anymore. The weird thing is it’s not a big deal as I thought it would be. We just use other things to sweeten our food.
I was recently sent some Rigoni di Asiago Dolcedì Sweetener to try. I was interested in trying it because it is made from 100% organic apples. That is definitely different!

Since we love to drink smoothies, I decided to make a Strawberry Banana one using Rigoni di Asiago Dolcedì Sweetener instead of honey.
I did not tell anyone that I used something different in my recipe. I wanted to be sure to get their honest reaction. Everyone pretty much loved it. I have to agree with them, the smoothie tasted very good. It still tasted sweet and I did not feel like it was missing anything. There was no aftertaste either!
We have also tried Rigoni di Asiago Dolcedì Sweetener in other foods. I tried it in my coffee and the kids have tried in their hot cocoa and oatmeal. We are definitely getting a lot of use out of it and reaching for it more often.
It is very easy to use in recipes that call for sugar because 1 teaspoon of sweetener is equal to 1 teaspoon of sugar.
Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe
6 frozen strawberries
1/2 cup 2% milk
1/3 cup plain yogurt
5-6 ice cubes
1 tablespoon Rigoni di Asiago Dolcedì Sweetener
Add all ingredients to a blend and puree until smooth. Serve immediately.
