The Diehard Football Fan’s Bucket List Blitz book is the perfect gift for the football fan in your life. It is a twist on a traditional bucket list and full of 101 rivalries, tailgates and gridiron traditions to see and do before you are “sacked”.
Even though the title says “Diehard” football fan, I think this book will be great for footballs fans of all levels, including the casual fan. The Diehard Football Fan’s Bucket List Blitz offers great advice for some must do experiences. I like that it doesn’t just cover the NFL but also college and high school football.
The chapters included are:
- Meccas and Museums
- Bad Blood
- No Place Like Home
- Seats and Eats
- Tailgating and Sailgating
- Rites of Passage
- Just Do It
- I Love L.A.
Since I was born and still live in Wisconsin, I was very happy to see Lambeau Field highlighted as the first football mecca in the book. I am not surprised since it has been home to the Packers since 1957. The Green Bay Packers were mentioned again in one of the most well known rivalries there is, Packers VS. Bears.
Tailgating goes hand in hand with football and it is taken seriously. I wouldn’t mind checking out Arrowhead Stadium because they seem to like to wrap everything in bacon! In New York there is a Bills tailgater who grills meat on the hood of his old Ford Pinto and cooks wings in a mailbox. That would be a sight to see!
Before I read this book, I had no idea there was such a thing as Sailgating. Apparently fans of the University of Tennessee and the University of Washington have been doing it since the 60’s. This is definitely a bucket list must do!
One of a kind stadiums are also included in this book. A section I really enjoyed reading is the 800 club. Theses are college stadiums that can hold more than 100,000 fans. I have never been to a college football game but the fact that there are that many fans is amazing to me. Every single game at the Michigan Stadium completely sells out! It seats 107,601 and is the largest in the country.
One of my favorite parts of this book is the “Shout Outs” and “While You’re There” messages. You learn some interesting facts plus get an idea of other things to do while checking things off your football bucket list.
The Diehard Footballs Fan’s Bucket List Blitz is a great book for football fans. It full of interesting facts and tips that make you want to visit these places. There are even suggestions of the best food to try and places to sit. There are color pictures on every page and while this may be a quick read, I feel it is something a football fan will continually refer back to.
