What do you want for dinner? That is one question we hate to ask in my home. It is usually asked after a busy day and when no one feels like cooking. I don’t know why it is so hard to think of something quick and easy sometimes. It has been happening even more since we are remodeling our kitchen and have been limited to what we could prepare.
I needed a solution because eating out is just not cutting it.
Well I was recently sent the Ninja Cooking to try out and believe me when I say it is life changing.
My kids saw it when it was delivered and the first thing my daughter said “Another slow cooker?” I could not wait to pull it out and show them that it is so much more than a slow cooker. I read everything I could find about the Ninja Cooking System so I would be ready to cook when it arrived.
The Ninja Cooking System with Auto iQ comes with a glass lid, steaming/roasting rack, 6 quart multi purpose cooking pot, main housing and a cookbook.
Features
Auto-IQ : Allows you to select a recipe, add your ingredients, and Auto-iQ™ helps you cook! Featuring over 80 pre-programmed, chef-developed recipes.
- Quick Meals
- Layered Bowl
- Grains
- Poached Infusions
Multi-functional cooking
- ACCUTEMP Slow Cook: Uses specific temperature calibrations that work behind the scenes to keep your Cooking System from getting too hot, so meals don’t over boil,
- Bake: Steam roasting is done by adding liquid to the bottom of the cooking pot and using the DRY BAKE setting. No need to pre-heat.
- Stove Top: Sear meat easily without the lid.
Stay Warm: Automatically switches to Stay Warm mode when Slow Cook, Steam, or Bake functions come to completion. This keeps your food hot and ready to serve without overcooking it.
Digital Temperature: Easy to use for precise cooking
Stainless Steel Steaming/Roasting Rack
Auto Shutoff
The Ninja Cooking System allows you to cook your food quickly and easier. You can slow cook, sear, steam or bake all in one pot. The included cookbook holds over 100 recipes. It really helps to take the guesswork out deciding what to have at meal time.
To make a meal all you need to do is choose an Auto-iQ recipe from the cookbook. Get all the ingredients together and add them to the pot according to the recipe. Next your press the Auto-iQ button listed in the recipe (quick meals, layered bowls, grains or poached infusions).
Then you select the recipe number using the adjustment dial and press the Start/Stop button. That’s it! It really is as easy as 1,2,3 .
While flipping through the cookbook, I decided to try the Red Pepper and Potato Frittata recipe. I had everything to make it and it would only take 29 minutes. I ended up adding some spinach to make it my own. Once it was done cooking I sprinkled some cheddar cheese on top and put the lid on and it melted beautifully.
What really makes the Ninja Cooking System stand out from traditional slow cookers is the way it cooks your food.
Your food is surrounded by heat instead of just from the sides. Bottom heat locks in flavor from the start, while side heat distributes evenly for consistent cooking. Finally, steam heat keeps ingredients juicy so your meals never dry out.
I was really impressed with this cooking system. To cook a meal in less than 30 minutes and not have stand in front of the stove is a huge win for me. I love that the Auto iQ knows what to do. The food was cooked all the way through as well. I really appreciate the stay warm feature too. The food was still hot when my daughter came in later to grab a plate. It was not dried out or rubbery.
Check out the video below too see just how easy it is to use the Ninja Cooking System with Auto iQ.

Helpful Tips
You can use the cooking system to reheat food by using the stove top feature. Place your food in the pot, turn the temperature to high and adjust as needed with the lid off.
You can use this system to boil at least a dozen eggs all at once!
Save more time by prepping beforehand. The pot can go straight from the fridge to the multi-cooker without cracking.
Don’t worry if you misplace your cookbook, you can download another copy here.
While using Auto iQ, if your would like your food to be cooked a little longer, set your unit to BAKE at 350 F degrees for 5-10 minutes.
When removing the lid, tilt it away from you.
There is a vent hole in the lid. Keep this in mind when using the multi-cooker.
Always use nonstick utensils.
Final thoughts
I am looking forward to using the Ninja Cooking System on a more consistent basis. Especially while we were are remodeling the kitchen. I love the size of the system and how the pot is truly non stick. It is so easy to clean. I think Ninja did a great job of creating an appliance that can meet so many needs. You are able to do everything from poaching eggs to baking a cake. I never used to sear my meat before when I did used my slow cooker because I usually did not feel like completing the extra step or getting out another pan. I don’t have to worry about that anymore. We are looking forward to making Turkey Lasagna, Chicken Curry and Mini Cheesecakes. I am probably going to make everything in the cookbook, it all looks delicious!
The Ninja® Cooking System with Auto-iQ™ will make the perfect gift for someone looking to upgrade their older slow cooker. It is very user friendly and saves time. You can find it at retailers nationwide starting at $149
