In the spirit of the treasured Our Gang comedies, The Little Rascals Save the Day finds the most entertaining bunch of third graders in town hatching a series of madcap schemes to earn enough money to keep Grandma’s (Doris Roberts of “Everybody Loves Raymond”) bakery out of the clutches of conniving businessman Big Ray (Greg Germann of Here Comes the Boom). From caddying to pet care to taxi service, each of their plans goes hilariously awry until they are left with just two options: find a way to win the local talent show or wave goodbye to the best cupcakes a kid ever tasted!
On April 1, 2014 The Little Rascals Save the Day became available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. The digital copy is good for both Ultraviolet and iTunes. You can really stream it every where!
The movie starts off with Alfalfa singing for Share Day on the last day of school in class. Waldo ends Alfafa’s performance with a spit ball. Waldo gets up to perform with an iPod and dancing.
The Little Rascals can not wait for school to end and have a plan to get out early. We get to see the gang use their special signal of wiggling their fingers under their chin. Even Petey the dog knows how to do it! Porky and Buckwheat come to class with excuses to get Mary Ann, Spanky, Alfalfa and Stymie out early. Too bad Ms. Crabtree planned to surprise the class with ice cream cake!
The kids head to their treehouse with a quick stop at Grandma’s Bakery for some muffins. They are practicing for the school talent show. It is funny because there are all types of sounds including animals coming from the treehouse.
Grandma gets an important letter from the bank and leaves the kids in charge. A woman comes in to order a Red Velvet Cake. Even though they don’t know anything about baking cakes, Spanky thinks it is a good idea to make one anyways. Let’s just say they add 100% real red velvet and get creative with the measuring.
It turns out Grandma owes the bank $10,000 and the kids decided to get jobs to help her save the bakery. This is just the beginning of the fun.
We laughed a lot during the movie. It is hard for things to go as planned for the Little Rascals but they do not give up. Our family enjoyed watching the story unfold. Since it is rated PG, the entire family can enjoy it.
